Questions
How is a villa inside a hotel different from a run of suites?
You have your own front door and your own rooms, and the hotel's restaurants, spa and service are a short walk away. Many come with their own pool, kitchen or staff; each listing says what that house has. For a family or a group of friends it usually means one booking, shared rooms to gather in and the privacy of a house.
Is there a minimum stay?
Many houses set one, and it can change with the season and the date. I check the minimum for your dates before the house is proposed, so it is never a surprise at booking.
How do deposits and the balance work?
Your booking is made with Colletts Travel Limited, the licence holder. A deposit is taken when you book, normally 10 per cent unless the property asks for more, and the balance is due 56 days before arrival unless your confirmation says otherwise. If you book within 56 days of arrival, the full amount is due at booking. Where a house asks for more up front, your proposal says so before you confirm.
What if we need to cancel?
The property's own cancellation terms apply, and they are set out in your proposal before you confirm. There is no cooling-off period for travel bookings, so travel insurance with cancellation cover should be in place from the day the deposit is paid.
Can the house be ready for us when we arrive?
Yes. Tell me what you need, from cots and high chairs to a stocked kitchen or a cook for the first night, and it goes to the property in writing before you arrive. Requests are passed on but cannot be guaranteed until the property confirms them, and you are told which ones it has.
