Conrad Maldives Rangali Island spreads across two natural islands in the South Ari Atoll, joined by a bridge, with 151 villas set over the lagoon or along white beaches. Rangali-Finolhu is the family island, while the water villas on Rangali are kept for guests aged 16 and over, with the two-bedroom Ocean Pavilion the one exception. The resort is home to Ithaa, the first undersea restaurant, five metres below the surface, and to The Muraka, the first two-level residence with a master bedroom beneath the sea. There are 12 dining venues in all, two spas, one of them over the water, a PADI centre and a new padel court. In the surrounding waters, whale sharks and manta rays can be met at any time of year. Every villa has a private pool. For families and groups there are several larger choices: a three-bedroom beach suite with lap pools, two-bedroom beach and water villas, the two-bedroom Rangali Ocean Pavilion, and The Muraka itself, with three bedrooms, a butler and a private jetty. Arrival is by seaplane or speedboat from Malé.

Insider tip Plan a snorkel or dive with the resort's marine team for whale sharks, which are seen in South Ari Atoll through the year.
Why I choose it Two islands in one resort: water villas for couples, a family island, and Ithaa and The Muraka for something no other resort offers.
