Rosewood San Miguel de Allende is built in the manner of a grand colonial residence around a central courtyard, in the UNESCO-listed old town of San Miguel de Allende in the central highlands of Mexico. Rather than import a house style, it leans fully into local craft: wood-beamed ceilings, Mexican furniture and fireplaces in most rooms, with modern bathrooms and deep tubs. The 67 rooms and suites have garden terraces on the ground floor and balconies above, facing the gardens, the pools or the rooftops of El Centro, and a collection of residences of up to four bedrooms adds patios and roof terraces. 1826 Restaurant, which honours the local hero Ignacio Allende, cooks the regional food of central Mexico, with a tequila and mezcal bar across the way. Pirules Garden Kitchen, led by chef Odín Rocha, cooks over open wood fires with produce from within 60 miles, Agua serves the pool and Luna takes the roof. Sense, the spa on the top floor, draws on Mexican healing traditions. There are three pools, two tennis courts, cooking classes and a children's club, and the hotel, residences and venues can be bought out together for a celebration.
