Alexander and Carrie Vik set out in 2004 to make a great wine in the Millahue valley, across more than 4,000 hectares with 327 hectares of vines in 12 microclimates, and in November 2025 Viña Vik topped the World's 50 Best Vineyards ranking, having placed second the year before. The winery, by Smiljan Radić with Loreto Lyon, sets a translucent stretched-fabric roof over an underground cellar beside a water mirror of river stones. Chief winemaker Cristian Vallejo harvests by hand and ferments with wild yeast, making Vik, Milla Cala and La Piu Belle from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, Merlot and Syrah, joined lately by StoneVik, a low-sulphite natural wine. Meals and Vik wines are included, across Milla Milla, Pavilion and Vik Zero. At Milla Milla, dinner for hotel guests is paired each night with guidance from the chef and winemaker, and at Vik Zero guests pick from the organic garden and cook it themselves. The hotel, clad in titanium and bronze and finished in 2014 to designs by Marcelo Daglio, holds works by Roberto Matta and Anselm Kiefer, and its 22 suites and seven Puro Vik glass bungalows are being added to.
