Zadún opened on November 4, 2019, on a 20-acre hillside above the Sea of Cortés, its name drawn from dunas, the dunes around it. Its 113 rooms, suites and villas are spread across 42 separate buildings, with interiors by uribekrayer, and every one has a private plunge pool. Each guest is looked after by a personal Tosoani, a Nahuatl word meaning dream watcher. Sensei, the wellness programme founded by Larry Ellison and Dr David Agus, opened here in 2025, and the spa offers a traditional temazcal ritual. Dining spans Humo, El Barrio, X, the Candil agave bar and Azul café, with guest-chef dinners and a weekly programme of cooking classes, tastings and wellness series. Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ambassadors of the Environment programme runs for families, and the neighbouring Puerto Los Cabos golf courses are by Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus. From December to April whales pass along the coast. The Grand Reserve Villa is the largest residence, a two-storey beachfront house of five bedrooms with private terraces, a plunge pool and art and textiles by Mexican makers. Check hurricane news before travel in late summer.

Why I choose it A plunge pool for every room, a temazcal ritual and whales offshore in winter, on a quieter stretch of the Los Cabos coast.
