Days 1 to 7 · six nights

San José del Cabo

Met at the airport and driven the short way to the resort. A private boat to the Arch for swimming, snorkelling and paddleboarding, and a cooking class at Flora Farms in Ánimas Bajas: a guided walk round the farm, then tamales, tortillas from the nixtamal or Baja salsas and fish tacos depending on the day, and lunch at a family table. A tequila and mezcal tasting, and an evening among the galleries of San José del Cabo with dinner, on a Thursday between November and June for the Art Walk, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Two half-days are kept free for whales from mid-December to April, surfing, fishing, diving or a hike, or a day to La Paz to snorkel with whale sharks.

Where you stay

Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Zadún sits among the sand dunes of Puerto Los Cabos, where the desert meets the Sea of Cortés, about five kilometres from the airport. Its 113 rooms, suites and villas open to the outdoors and hold work by Mexican artisans, and naturalists take guests above and below the water.

Arranged on request

In the kitchen at Flora Farms

A cooking class of three and a half hours on a 25-acre organic farm, with a guided farm tour, a cocktail and a family-style lunch; tamales, tortillas or regional salsas depending on the day.

The Thursday Art Walk

From November to June, the galleries of San José del Cabo open their doors from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays, with musicians and dancers in the streets.

Humpbacks in season

From mid-December to April, humpback whales gather to breed in the waters off Los Cabos.

Whale sharks off La Paz

Zadún arranges a day to snorkel with whale sharks in La Paz.

Subject to availability.

Ways to make it yours

  1. A dive among the coral reefs of the Sea of Cortés, or a day's sport fishing.
  2. The birds of the Estero San José del Cabo, and the 18th-century Misión de San José del Cabo Añuiti.
  3. A zipline morning in the hills.

This is a sample. The hotels, the pace and the order are where we start, not where we finish: every journey is designed around the people taking it.

Made around you

Most travel is bought. This is designed.

Before anything is booked, we talk: who is travelling, how you like to spend a morning, and the hotel preferences below the obvious, from the kind of bath you like to the time you wake and how much daylight you need in a room. You see options where options matter and clean recommendations where they don't.

The same person remains your point of contact from the first reply to the trip after next. No handovers. No team.
