SingleThread Inn stands on North Street in downtown Healdsburg, at the heart of Sonoma wine country, as an extension of one of the most personal restaurants in California. Chef Kyle Connaughton, born in Los Angeles and trained in celebrated kitchens in Japan and Britain, runs it with his wife Katina, who farms the couple's 24-acre regenerative farm nearby, the source of much of what reaches the table. The restaurant holds a three-MICHELIN-star rating for kaiseki-influenced cooking of precise knife work and clean flavour, opening with a botanical landscape of first bites and making a signature of the donabe, the Japanese clay pot. The inn has four guest rooms of 450 to 500 square feet and a 700-square-foot corner Master Suite overlooking the town, with a living room, balcony and kitchenette. All have 14-foot ceilings with redwood beams, exposed brick, gas fireplaces, soaking tubs, heated floors and rain showers. A full breakfast for two, Sonoma or Japanese, is included, and inn guests are guaranteed a dinner reservation for two at the restaurant, which otherwise takes long advance planning. There are five rooms and suites, and the inn holds three MICHELIN Keys.
