Stillpoint Lodge sits in Halibut Cove, a small fishing village and artists' community on Kachemak Bay that can be reached only by sea or by air. From Homer the boat takes about 20 minutes, crossing the bay past mountains and fjords, and floatplanes come in from Anchorage. The lodge is a group of private cabins on the shore, built from Alaskan timber and set around a sunlit main lodge where guests gather to eat. There are 14 rooms across nine cabins, from small waterfront cabins for one or two to suites in the trees, and the Presidential Chalet, once the owner's art studio, stands on the highest point of the property. The stay is all-inclusive, with meals built around Alaskan seafood and local produce, packed lunches for days out, and wine, beer and cocktails. Days can include bear viewing, glacier hikes, kayaking on glacier lakes, saltwater fishing and watching for whales and birds, followed by a sauna, hot tub, massage or yoga. The lodge opens for a short summer season, and children aged six and over are welcome.
