The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician

  • Virtuoso
  • Best time: Oct to May
Rugged desert mountains and green trees under a partly cloudy sky.

The Canyon Suites is the resort within a resort at The Phoenician, at the foot of Camelback Mountain, created during a renovation completed around 2012; the parent resort opened in 1988. It holds Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond ratings, and guests are looked after by ambassadors in place of a front desk. There are 60 rooms and suites. One-bedroom suites of 1,200 square feet connect to a guest room to form two- or three-bedroom family suites, and eight freestanding villas of two to four bedrooms, up to 3,450 square feet, add gas fireplaces, full kitchens, fire tables and a private pool complex with cabanas. The Canyon Suites' own infinity pool and spa are open to guests of all ages, and the whole of The Phoenician lies beyond: family pools with a 197-foot waterslide and a treehouse splash zone, a games room of more than 2,100 square feet, the Funicians Club for children aged five to 12, the three-storey Phoenician Spa with its rooftop pool, a golf course redesigned in 2018, and a cactus garden of more than 250 varieties. It suits families who want boutique privacy with a big resort on hand.
