The Ritz-Carlton Oʻahu, Turtle Bay

Surf breaking over black lava rock on the North Shore of Oʻahu.

The Ritz-Carlton Oʻahu, Turtle Bay opened in May 1972 as Del Webb's Kuilima Resort and joined Ritz-Carlton on July 31, 2024, after renovations finished in 2023. It holds five miles of North Shore coastline on an estate of nearly 1,100 acres, more than 1,000 of them preserved, including the 468-acre Kuilima Farm. All 450 rooms, suites, bungalows and villas face the ocean. This is Oʻahu's adventure coast. Surf lessons come from the Jamie O'Brien Surf Experience, and there are beach rides from The Stables, kayak trips among the turtles of Kawela Bay, night snorkelling in Kuilima Cove and 12 miles of trails leading to quiet beaches. From November to February the North Shore's winter swells can pass 30 feet, a show to watch from the sand rather than swim in, while May to September brings calm water for swimming and snorkelling. The Arnold Palmer Championship Course and the oceanfront Nalu Spa complete the picture. Alaia is the signature restaurant, with Beach House by Roy Yamaguchi and Paniolo, a lūʻau in the tradition of Hawaii's cowboys. In all, the resort offers more than 70 guest experiences.
