Villa Singa

  • Best time: Apr to Oct
The villa's long pool and modern facade under umbrella pines, in the Algarve.

Villa Singa stands above the sea at Olhos de Água on the Algarve coast, with a path from the gardens down to the beach and long views over the water at sunset. The house, designed by the architect João Coutinho, is set over two levels. The main floor holds the principal living area, two kitchens, one bedroom, a second sitting room and an enclosed courtyard made for slow breakfasts. A staircase or lift leads down to the lower level, where the other bedrooms sit alongside a gym with a glass front facing the sea, a sauna, a steam room, a wine cellar and several sitting and dining areas, including a fully equipped outdoor kitchen. There are five suites in all, sleeping up to 10, and most of the lower bedrooms open straight onto the pool terrace. The pool is 17 metres long and can be heated on request. The villa is fully staffed, with a housekeeper, a chef, daily housekeeping and laundry, breakfast and waiting staff, and a concierge for travel and activities.

Rooms
Five-bedroom villa, sleeping up to 10

Insider tip Ask for the pool to be heated before arrival if you are travelling in spring or autumn; it is done on request rather than as standard.

Why I choose it A fully staffed villa with direct beach access and room for three generations, on a quieter stretch of the Algarve.
