Roxane is a six-bedroom villa on the hillside at Gustavia, on St Barthélemy, built across two buildings with wide views of the ocean and the islets offshore. The main house has a large living room that opens to the sea at the front and to a garden of palms behind, with a covered terrace and an outdoor lounge where the sun sets over the water. A short way down the slope, a heated infinity pool lies on a wooden deck, with an outdoor dining room under a second covered terrace beside it. Five of the bedrooms are in the rear building for privacy: three upstairs with balconies and two on the ground floor opening onto the garden. The sixth is in the main house, a few steps from the pool. All of them have air conditioning and their own bathrooms. Alongside the family kitchen there is a second, professional kitchen for a private chef, as well as a gym, a wine cellar and a barbecue. Housekeeping comes daily except on Sundays and public holidays, and the house sleeps 12.

Insider tip Bring in a private chef for at least one evening: the villa's second, professional kitchen is built for it, and dinner can be served in the outdoor dining room beside the pool.
Why I choose it A private, well-equipped house above Gustavia with sea views and room for 12, close to town yet quiet on its hillside.
