Pine Cay is a car-free island of about 800 acres in the Turks and Caicos, less than a mile wide and about two miles long, on the edge of a barrier reef. The Meridian Club, founded in the 1970s and a Relais & Châteaux member, is its only hotel. It has 10 beachfront rooms and two free-standing beachfront suites, each about 150 feet from the sand with a porch or garden. Meals are served beside the pool, at the Tiki Beach Bar on the western shore, as picnic hampers or as private dinners on the beach, and a Saturday barbecue brings guests together with the island's homeowners. The rate includes three meals a day, afternoon tea, daily snorkelling trips by boat when the weather allows, kayaks, paddleboards, Hobie Cats, tennis, bikes and the gym; drinks and transfers are extra. Guests fly into Providenciales, then drive about 15 minutes to a marina for a 20-minute boat ride, or take a short flight to the island's own airstrip.
