Cap Maison is a small hotel on a clifftop at Cap Estate, at the northern end of Saint Lucia, above Smugglers Cove and close to Rodney Bay. Rooms run from Garden View Rooms a step from the pool and Junior Suites with a private verandah to one-bedroom suites: the Spanish Courtyard Suite, and Oceanview Suites with an outdoor soaking tub and views towards Martinique, some with their own plunge pool and roof terrace. There are also one, two and three bedroom ocean-view villas, and Saman House, a private four-bedroom residence. The Cliff at Cap serves Caribbean and French cooking, looking towards Martinique and Pigeon Island. The Naked Fisherman is a grill under a thatched roof on the beach at Smugglers Cove, where non-motorised water sports are included. Rock Maison holds candlelit dinners, with champagne sent down by zip line, and Cellar Maison hosts tastings and private dinners. Spa Maison uses Sothys products and sits beside a fitness studio, and the hotel ages its own rum.
- Nearest airport
- George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU); the hotel also arranges transfers from Hewanorra International (UVF), including by helicopter
Insider tip If a private plunge pool and the view to Martinique matter, ask for an Oceanview Suite with Pool, or with Pool and Roof Terrace, and plan for a stay of at least three nights.
Why I choose it It is a small clifftop hotel where food and wine come first, with its own beach on Smugglers Cove.
