Mr. C Miami opened in Coconut Grove in 2019, the third Mr. C hotel and the first in Florida, created by the brothers Ignazio and Maggio Cipriani, the fourth generation of the family whose story began when Giuseppe Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice in 1931. The architecture is by Arquitectonica, the nautical interiors by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, and each of the 100 rooms and suites has its own terrace. Behind the Venetian polish is a working sustainability programme. The hotel holds a Green Key rating, has removed single-use plastics throughout and puts two-compartment recycling bins in every room. Food and glass waste goes to Compost for Life and Glass for Life, it takes part in Hotels for Trees and Clean the World, and a Green Committee trains every member of staff; tablet check-in alone saves up to 1,000 sheets of paper a month. Bellini, the rooftop Italian restaurant and bar, sits beside the pool, guests have beach access in South Beach, and there is a wellness suite for treatments. The Barnacle Historic State Park, with its mangrove forest, is a short walk away. The hotel holds one MICHELIN Key.

Insider tip Have Bellini pack a picnic, then cycle on the hotel's bikes to David T. Kennedy Park and take the green bench at the water's edge.
Why I choose it Cipriani style and a working green programme in leafy Coconut Grove.
