Morukuru Family has three houses in the Madikwe Game Reserve, a malaria-free Big Five reserve of 75,000 hectares in South Africa, and each house is taken by one party at a time. Morukuru Owner's House has two bedrooms for four guests, and Morukuru River House, next door, has three bedrooms; both stand on the Marico River, and the two can be taken together for a larger family or group. Morukuru Farm House, set on wide lawns, has five bedrooms for 10 guests. The houses are made for family safaris, and because Madikwe is free of malaria it is a reserve where young children can come along. The Morukuru way is to let each party set its own timetable, so drives, walks and meals happen when the group wants them. Birdwatchers and photographers favour the months from December to April. Johannesburg is about four hours away by road, or about an hour by light aircraft, with scheduled seat-in-plane or private charter flights by Federal Air to Madikwe East Airstrip, about 40 minutes' drive from the houses. Guests who drive themselves need only an ordinary two-wheel-drive car to reach the reserve.
