The Silo Hotel occupies six floors of a converted grain silo above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, which holds Africa's largest collection of contemporary African art, at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. It belongs to The Royal Portfolio, whose founder Liz Biden decorated the rooms with her own colour schemes and her collection of contemporary African art. The building is known for its pillowed glass windows, which bulge outwards in the way grain might once have pressed against an opening; in the Deluxe Superior Suites they stand 18 feet tall and frame Table Mountain and the harbour. The 28 rooms and suites run from Silo Rooms and Duplex Suites with a balcony and lounge to two-bedroom Family Duplex Suites with a small children's room, Royal Suites looking to Robben Island and the Atlantic, and the Penthouse on the top floor. Executive Chef Veronica Canha-Hibbert leads the kitchens: the Granary Café, the Willaston Bar, the open-air Silo Rooftop with its pool and terrace for sunset drinks, and The Wisdom Room. There is a spa using Ling products, and Cape Town International Airport is about 16 kilometres away.
