One&Only Cape Town

Table Mountain above the city of Cape Town.

One&Only Cape Town stands at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, with Table Mountain filling the view from much of the resort. The rooms and suites are among the largest in the city, split between the Marina building and a group of buildings on a man-made island ringed by waterways and planted with palms. The spa sits on that island, and its treatments include full moon rituals. Dining is a strong reason to stay. Nobu Cape Town brings Nobu Matsuhisa's Japanese-Peruvian cooking, ROOI is a grill built around South African produce, Isola by the pool mixes Mediterranean and Cape flavours, and the Vista Bar and Lounge looks straight at the mountain. Each guest has a dedicated host for the stay. Beyond the hotel, the team arranges hikes, whale watching and days in the winelands, and the resort has a partnership with Shamwari Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape for guests adding a safari. Families have a kids' club and a games room. Cape Town International Airport is about 11 miles away.

Insider tip Book a treatment at the spa on its own island within the resort, and ask whether a full moon ritual falls during your stay.

Why I choose it It gives Cape Town a resort's space and service while keeping the Waterfront, the restaurants and Table Mountain on the doorstep, and it links easily to a safari at Shamwari.
