Mont Cervin Palace

  • One Key
  • Best time: Late Nov to late Apr; mid-Jun to early Oct
The Matterhorn above a ridge of snow-covered peaks under a deep blue sky.

Built in 1852, Mont Cervin Palace is the second-oldest hotel in Zermatt, and its red horse-drawn carriage, which meets arriving guests and carries brides, is a familiar sight in the car-free village. Part of Michel Reybier Hospitality, it spreads 150 rooms and suites, 99 of them suites, across four connected buildings. Most rooms have balconies, many suites have fireplaces, and south-facing rooms look over the rooftops to the Matterhorn. It carries itself with more polish than many city hotels of its class. Families are well provided for, with one- and two-bedroom Family Suites and a Family Duplex, some with kitchenettes, whirlpools or saunas, and staff can supply cots, baby monitors, bottle warmers, children's ice skates and babysitters, alongside a crèche, an indoor play area and a playground. The Alexander Seiler Saal seats up to 360 for weddings, birthdays and family celebrations. The 1,700-square-metre pool and wellness area houses Spa Nescens, and in winter Ristorante Capri, run by the chefs of Capri Palace, holds a one-MICHELIN-star rating; guests can also dine across 14 restaurants in the group's Zermatt hotels. The hotel opens for a winter and a summer season each year.
