Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa

  • Virtuoso
  • Two Keys
  • Best time: Jun to Sep; Dec to Mar for skiing
Interlaken between its two lakes, with the Bernese Alps behind, from above.

Victoria-Jungfrau was founded in 1865 by Eduard Ruchti and stands between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, facing the Jungfrau. In 1899 a domed central wing joined the Victoria to the Hotel Jungfrau, and its Belle Époque rooms of gilded mirrors, stucco and crystal have since been renovated at great expense. Wellness here is on a grand scale. Spa Nescens covers 5,500 square metres, one of the largest in Europe, and was extended in 2002 and 2009, with an outdoor brine pool looking up at the mountains and interiors in a 1940s boudoir style. There are saunas and steam baths, a private spa suite and an indoor tennis centre, and the services reach into osteopathy, physiotherapy, nutrition and coaching, with a dermatology clinic on site. The Nescens programmes include a two-day Longevity Boost of coached walks, hydrotherapy, Thai massage and yoga, available until the end of 2026. Summer brings the lakes and Alpine trails, and winter 43 lifts and some 125 miles of slopes. Radius by Stefan Beer holds a one-MICHELIN-star rating and sources its ingredients from within 50 kilometres. There are 216 rooms and suites, 106 of them junior suites and suites.
