Il Falconiere stands above Cortona, a mid-17th-century villa once home to the poet Antonio Guadagnoli and owned by the Baracchi family since 1860, with rooms spread across the manor house, chapel, farmhouse and stables. It is a Relais & Châteaux estate where the kitchen, the vineyard and the cooking school sit side by side. Silvia Baracchi, the chef and owner, has held a MICHELIN star since 2002, cooking with executive chef Richard Titi in the villa's old lemon house, a glass conservatory with a terrace looking over Cortona. Chianina beef, local garlic and pici pasta appear on the menu, served with the estate's own wine and olive oil. Next door, Baracchi Winery has made wine since 1860, growing Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet and Trebbiano with the consultant winemaker Riccardo Cotarella, and is known for sparkling wines from native grapes. Cooking Under the Tuscan Sun, the school in the old farmhouse, ends each class with a shared meal and Baracchi wines. A renovated Winery Master Suite is new for 2026. The Thesan Spa works with wine and olive oil, and Locanda del Molino, a sister trattoria in an old olive mill, is 10 kilometres away.
