A row of brightly painted pink, yellow and blue townhouses with shutters and window boxes along a pavement.

Hotel Bennett overlooks Marion Square in the centre of historic Charleston, with King Street at the door. It is a new building that fits its setting, with European-inspired architecture, a rotunda covered in murals and a salmon-pink Champagne lounge. The 179 rooms and suites, on the third to eighth floors, are calm in tone, with pedestal tubs and soft bedding, and two-bedroom suites suit families who need guaranteed connecting space. King's Club rooms add a dedicated concierge and food and drink set out through the day by the chef de cuisine. Gabrielle, the French-influenced restaurant, takes dinner reservations only, La Pâtisserie serves pastries and coffee, and Fiat Lux, up on the roof, serves light food and seasonal cocktails. The heated rooftop pool is open all year and only to hotel guests. There is also a spa, a fitness centre and an afternoon tea, and dogs are welcome. Families are welcome, and the hotel is a popular choice for anniversaries and weddings. Charleston International Airport is about 25 to 30 minutes away by car.
