Chobe Safari Lodge stands above the bank of the Nile on the eastern side of Murchison Falls National Park, in an area of the park that sees few visitors, with the sound of the river's rapids below. The lodge was first built in the 1950s, when it was one of the best known in Uganda, and it has been refurbished by its current owner, Marasa Africa, which also runs Paraa Safari Lodge on the other side of the park. Accommodation is a mix of rooms, cottages and tents, from Classic, Deluxe and Superior Rooms and a Signature Room to Classic, Superior and family tents and a Presidential Cottage, all with views over the Nile. The pool is built in three tiers, each with the same view of the river, and the Chobe Health Club and Spa is meant for the hours after a game drive; the gym also looks over the pool and the water. Activities include game drives, nature walks, bush breakfasts and fishing, and the lodge describes this stretch of the river as one of the best fishing spots in Africa. Kampala is about three and a half hours away by road.
