Duba Plains Camp belongs to Great Plains Conservation and stands in the private Duba Concession, a reserve of 33,000 hectares in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The camp has five private suites in a 1920s African safari style, raised on decking made from recycled railway sleepers. Each has an indoor lounge, a bathroom with double vanities, indoor and outdoor showers and a bath, ceiling fans and air conditioning, and a veranda with its own swimming pool and a shaded sala. A professional camera with lenses and a pair of binoculars wait in every suite, and guests take home their own images and video at the end of the stay. The main area holds a dining room, a lounge, an interactive kitchen, a wine cellar and a library, with an extended deck under giant ebony trees for meals outside. Days are spent on open-vehicle drives, guided walks, mokoro outings and boating, the water activities depending on the flood. Dereck Joubert, a founder of Great Plains, writes that swamp lions, painted dogs and leopards pass through all year, and more than 200 bird species have been recorded. Duba Plains Camp is a member of Relais & Châteaux.
