Mweya Safari Lodge stands on a peninsula in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda, above the Kazinga Channel, which carries water between Lake George and Lake Edward. To one side rise the Rwenzori Mountains, the Mountains of the Moon, and to the east the hills of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge belongs to Marasa Africa, which also runs Silverback Lodge in Bwindi and Paraa Safari Lodge at Murchison Falls, and every room looks out over the channel. There are Classic, Deluxe and Superior rooms, the Deluxe and Superior ones with air conditioning, as well as four cottages and four tents. The kitchen serves Continental, Indian and international food, and the Mweya Health Club offers spa treatments. Forest hogs graze and hippos come close to the lodge, and the park records 619 bird species. Activities run from game drives and boat trips on the Kazinga Channel to bush breakfasts, birding, a culture talk and visits to Pelican Point and the Katwe explosion crater, with chimpanzee trekking in nearby Kyambura Gorge, the park's tree-climbing lions and gorilla trekking further afield. The lodge also serves coffee from the Ugandan roaster Wild.
