Candlelit tables set with white flowers on a rooftop terrace, with the Eiffel Tower at sunset.

Cheval Blanc Paris fills the Art Deco building of La Samaritaine on the Quai du Louvre. LVMH spent 16 years restoring the former department store before opening its first Parisian Maison here in September 2021. Peter Marino designed the interiors, setting marble, velvet and contemporary art against floor-to-ceiling windows that look across the Seine to the Pont Neuf and the Left Bank. Deluxe Rooms run to 45 square metres, each with a dressing room and a marble bathroom with a deep bath and a hammam shower, and the suites are named for what they face: Seine, Notre-Dame and Eiffel. The kitchens are the reason many guests come. On the first floor, Arnaud Donckele's Plénitude holds a three-MICHELIN-star rating for cooking built around sauces, with desserts by the pastry chef Maxime Frédéric. On the ground floor, Hakuba holds a two-MICHELIN-star rating for Takuya Watanabe's sushi, with Donckele contributing sauces and broths. Le Tout-Paris, the seventh-floor brasserie, opens onto a 650-square-metre terrace, and the Dior Spa Cheval Blanc wraps around the largest indoor hotel pool in Paris. There are 72 rooms and suites, and the hotel holds three MICHELIN Keys.
