A modern boutique hotel in dark countryside about half an hour from Fairbanks, built for watching the northern lights. It was designed in a pared-back Nordic style, with floor-to-ceiling windows, a dining room glazed towards the aurora, viewing decks and a hot tub. It opened in 2019, and a separate lodge-style building on the site adds more rooms and a full kitchen.

- Seven rooms, plus further rooms in a separate lodge building
Why I choose it A quiet, dark place to watch the northern lights in comfort, rather than from a rustic cabin.
