Caldera House

  • Virtuoso
  • Two Keys
  • Best time: Dec to Mar for skiing; Jun to Sep for the parks
A fire pit and sheepskin-draped chairs on a terrace, the snowy slopes and the tram beyond.

Caldera House stands at the foot of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village, a few steps from the aerial tram and a short drive from Grand Teton National Park. Outside, the stone and Douglas fir fit the village. Inside, wood, stone and leather are handled in a refined, contemporary way. There are just eight suites, of two and four bedrooms, each with its own name and character, from the family chalet feel of Valles to the private library in Socorro and the slopeside views of Yellowstone. Suites have chef's kitchens and dining rooms, so it feels like a house with hotel service behind it. The members' lounge, open to hotel guests, has a bar, a terrace facing the slopes and fire pits. There is a heated outdoor plunge pool, a cedar sauna, a fitness studio and massage on request. Corsa serves Italian food, Southcable Café is the quick stop, and the Mudroom and Nomad shops handle rental and tuning. In summer the concierge plans rafting, fly fishing and days in Yellowstone.

Nearest airport
Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), 4 Miles / 6 Kilometres
Rooms
Eight suites, of two and four bedrooms

Insider tip Let the Mudroom fit your skis the evening before. The tram is next door, so you can be on the first car in the morning.

Why I choose it For a family ski trip or a Yellowstone summer, it gives the space of a private house with the tram on the doorstep.
