The Cloister is where The Boca Raton began: Addison Mizner opened it on February 6, 1926, as the 100-room Ritz-Carlton Cloister Inn, and its Spanish Colonial halls still hold the estate's hidden garden courtyards. The resort took the name The Boca Raton in 2021 and restored the Cloister's exterior to coastal white that December, and it describes itself as the only Forbes Quadruple Five-Star resort in the Americas. Its wellness heart is Spa Palmera, based in the Cloister. Inspired by the Alhambra, it covers 50,000 square feet with 44 treatment rooms, mosaics, arches, a garden courtyard, waterfall whirlpools and a private spa pool, and it has held a Forbes Five-Star rating every year from 2023 to 2026. Ritual Baths, an inhalation room and the Great Hall frame treatments that include Sound Therapy, an Ayurvedic Collection and an Alhambra Body Ritual, and phones stay outside. The spa is for resort guests and Club members only, from the age of 16. Beyond it lie an 18-hole golf course, 16 tennis and six pickleball courts and the Harborside Pool Club, with the Rockwell Group's Palm Court bar and Sadelle's on site. Rooms are being redesigned for autumn 2026.
