Carillon Miami Wellness Resort

  • Virtuoso
A fishing pier running out from a sandy point, with high-rise towers on the shore and the sea in the foreground.

Carillon was built in 1958 by Norman Giller, a pioneer of Miami Modern architecture, and named after a niece of its founders, Doris and Alfred Kaskel. It reopened in 1998 with two new towers and was reborn around wellness in 2015. It fronts Miami Beach's longest secluded stretch of sand, in North Beach, and its apartment suites start at 720 square feet, with kitchens, floor-to-ceiling windows and Bryte smart beds. At 70,000 square feet, its wellness facilities are among the largest on the Eastern Seaboard. The Thermal Hydrotherapy Circuit has separate areas for men and women and nine experiences, from Miami's only igloo to rain showers modelled on a Caribbean monsoon, an Atlantic storm and a polar mist, plus a Finnish sauna, a crystal steam room, a vitality tub, an herbal laconium and heated loungers. Beyond the circuit are cryotherapy, salt float therapy, IV therapy and acupuncture, specialists in nutrition, counselling and anti-ageing, and more than 65 fitness classes a week, from TRX and boxing to gyrokinesis. Treatments, fitness and the circuit are for guests of 16 and over. Tambourine Room by Tristan Brandt holds a one-MICHELIN-star rating, and The Strand keeps things relaxed.
