Villa Nai 3.3 lies in the village of Žman on Dugi Otok, an island off the Zadar coast in central Dalmatia, within a 500-year-old organic olive grove of 40,000 square metres. The Croatian architect Nikola Bašić conceived it as a landlocked yacht. The hillside was dug out, the low outer walls were built from the stone that came out of it, and a green roof covers both the guest quarters and a working olive mill. The estate presses its own Nai 3.3 extra virgin oil, harvested and extracted on the same day, and an organic garden supplies the kitchens. There are two restaurants, the 3.3 and Grotta 11000, the latter named after a Dalmatian caveman of 11,000 years ago; both cook with island produce, regional meats and Adriatic seafood. A spa, an indoor pool and an infinity pool complete the house, and a jetty and a helipad serve arrivals by sea and air. Telašćica Nature Park and the Kornati National Park lie close by for walking, diving and sailing. Every room and suite has a private terrace. Villa Nai 3.3 features five rooms and three suites, welcoming guests aged 12 and above for individual room bookings. For full buyouts of all eight rooms, children of any age are welcome. It is the only property in Croatia that holds Three MICHELIN Keys.

Why I choose it An eight-room architectural landmark in a centuries-old olive grove, and one of the rarest addresses on the Adriatic.
