Boutique Hotel Alhambra stands on Čikat Bay on the island of Lošinj, in the northern Adriatic between Istria and Dalmatia. The hotel has been receiving guests since 1908 and is built around two historic buildings, the Alhambra and Villa Augusta, in Art Nouveau and neoclassical style. There are 51 rooms and suites, 15 of them larger suites of 65 to 120 square metres with balconies over the sea. Villa Augusta can also be taken in its entirety. Restaurant Alfred Keller holds a MICHELIN star and cooks with island herbs and local produce, backed by a cellar of more than 550 wines, with tables out on the patio. The Cube Spa has a seawater pool, saunas and an ice alcove, and the island's clean air is part of the appeal, with an inhalation bar and breathing cabins by the sea. Beyond the hotel there are more than 250 kilometres of marked walking trails and five clay tennis courts, and the hotel has direct access to the beach.

Why I choose it We choose the Alhambra for a slow, elegant island stay in Croatia: a historic hotel on a quiet bay, with a MICHELIN-starred restaurant and the island's walking trails on the doorstep.
