Villa Bokéh is a hacienda-style estate on six acres of parkland, about three kilometres from the centre of Antigua and ringed by the volcanoes that watch over the valley. It is close enough to walk into the colonial city's courtyards and markets, yet quiet enough to feel like a retreat. Inside, the mood is a mix of old and new: leather and hand-woven Guatemalan textiles sit beside graphic modern pieces and contemporary art, and windows frame the gardens. The 15 rooms are split between Deluxe Rooms and Suites. There are two places to eat, Bokéh 3.1 for the signature menu, built on Guatemalan ingredients, and the more casual Casa Cristal Bistro. A swimming pool and a spa round out the estate, with bath rituals among the treatments. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and has a sister property, Casa Palopó, on Lake Atitlán, so the two make an easy pairing for a week in the highlands.
