A volcano rising behind cloud above yellow colonial houses with tiled roofs.

Carlisle Bay was opened by the British hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray on Antigua's south coast, and it has long been admired for solving the family resort's central problem: families and couples have separate wings, each with its own beach, and the restaurants keep family hours. All 87 rooms are suites, from 68 to 150 square metres. The kids' clubs are arranged by age, with Cool Kids Beginners for two- and three-year-olds, the Cool Kids Club for four to seven and Crew Blue for eight to 12, running mornings and afternoons every day. A renovation designed by Miminat Shodeinde, which keeps the traditional pitched roofs and verandas, is adding two-bedroom Signature Beach Suites and three-bedroom Carlisle Suites, named after Antiguan places, from October 2026, with all work due to finish by November 2027. There are four restaurants, Indigo on the Beach, East, Ottimo and the adults-only Jetty Grill, along with the CARA organic spa, a yoga pavilion, five tennis courts, two pickleball courts and a private screening room. The resort plans weddings and celebrations to order, and it holds one MICHELIN Key.
