Cap Juluca is a Belmond resort of white Greco-Moorish buildings along the curve of Maundays Bay, near the southern tip of Anguilla. There are 68 rooms and 45 suites, every one facing the sea with a private terrace, and seven signature suites and villas of 306 to 481 square metres that sleep up to 14, some with their own pools. There are four restaurants: Pimms for fine dining, Cip's by Cipriani for Venetian cooking, Uchu for Peruvian, and The Cap Shack on the beach. The Cap Juluca Spa by Guerlain has open-air garden courtyards with sea views, and alongside it are yoga, Pilates, tennis, a contrast renewal circuit and non-motorised watersports, with an infinity pool, a fitness centre open around the clock and a gallery of Anguillian art. The Explorer's Club and nursery takes children aged 4 to 12. Anguilla is a short hop from St Maarten, a seven-minute flight or a 20-minute boat ride (Belmond allows 25 to 40 minutes once immigration is done), and Miami has direct flights of about three hours. Cap Juluca holds two MICHELIN Keys.

Insider tip Arriving late through St Maarten, the last shared sea shuttle leaves at 5:00 p.m.; after that, a private boat is needed.
Why I choose it Beachfront villas with their own pools on one of Anguilla's long white bays, with a full resort behind them.
