The Xara Palace is a converted 17th-century palazzo and the only hotel within the walls of Mdina, the fortified Silent City in the interior of Malta. It is owned by the Zammit Tabona family and is the flagship of The Xara Collection, which has worked in Maltese hospitality since 1994. It is a member of Relais & Châteaux and holds One MICHELIN Key, awarded in the second edition of the Keys. The palace has been brought up to modern standards while keeping its period feel, and the hotel calls itself a living museum of Malta's heritage, with original artwork, antique furniture and the old architecture throughout. Its 17 rooms and suites are each designed differently, among them a Presidential Suite, a Duplex Suite and deluxe rooms and suites with panoramic views. The de Mondion, the fine dining room, holds a one-MICHELIN-star rating; Trattoria AD1530 is the relaxed choice, The Medina Restaurant completes the line-up, and private dining can be arranged.
