Rosewood Villa Magna

  • Virtuoso
  • Two Keys
  • Best time: Spring and autumn
The pale stone façade of the Royal Palace of Madrid across a wide paved square.

Rosewood Villa Magna stands on Paseo de la Castellana, on the site of the 19th-century Anglada Palace, where Hotel Villa Magna first opened in 1972. It reopened as a Rosewood on October 22, 2021, with a façade redesigned by Ramón de Arana, interiors by BAR Studio and gardens reworked by Gregorio Marañón, planted with native species beneath 30-metre cedars. Its approach to sustainability is practical and local. Old linens are made into pyjamas by a Madrid social enterprise that employs women at risk of exclusion, bathrooms carry the Today Project's natural, refillable products, and the hotel works with the PRODIS Foundation to employ people with intellectual disabilities. The kitchens buy close to home: vegetables from the Huerta de Aranjuez, Basque beef from Ganados Luismi and seafood from Pescaderías Coruñesas. The 154 rooms include 49 suites and four signature suites, and more than 400 works by 43 artists hang through the building. Sense, A Rosewood Spa has a hammam, the Flor y Nata patisserie draws Madrid's own food lovers, and the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen are all within walking distance.
