Llao Llao stands on a small hill in a national park in Argentine Patagonia, between lakes Nahuel Huapi and Moreno, with forest around it and the Andes beyond. The architect Alejandro Bustillo built it in 1938, and the building is admired for the way it sits in the landscape. There are 205 rooms and suites, with mountain, garden or lake views, and some suites have fireplaces and balconies. In the Moreno Lake wing, 43 larger rooms have wide windows, terraces and whirlpool baths, with views towards Mount Tronador. Dining runs from the Asador Criollo, where Patagonian lamb is the dish to order, to the relaxed Restaurant Patagonia, while the Lobby Bar with its two large fireplaces and the Winter Garden over Lake Nahuel Huapi suit the evening. The classic Llao Llao Tea is served at the golf Club House. The 18-hole course is set among lakes and mountains, and the resort has a spa and a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities included in the stay. In winter, a lounge at Cerro Catedral looks after skiers.
