Faena Miami Beach occupies the Saxony, completed in 1948 by the architect Roy F. France, and reopened in late 2015 with creative direction by Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. It is theatre throughout, with art that includes Damien Hirst's gilded woolly mammoth, Gone But Not Forgotten, and Juan Gatti's murals, The Way to Futopia. Tierra Santa Healing House is the reason it sits among our wellness hotels. Inspired by a beach house in Punta del Este, the spa fills 22,000 square feet of the third floor and blends old practice with new technology, from Taja IV therapies to sound and colour therapy. Treatments use hand-blended Tierra Santa muds and oils drawn from generations of South American shamanic tradition, the Healing Arts rituals include Pranic Healing, and a Thermal Sanctuary centres on a double-height hammam, one of the largest on the East Coast. Dining runs from Los Fuegos by Francis Mallmann, listed in the MICHELIN Guide, to Pao by Paul Qui, El Secreto Omakase, Tree of Life and the new Campo, and the Faena Theater keeps the evenings lively. It is wellness for guests who also want the city. The hotel holds Two MICHELIN Keys.
