Aqua Lares

A wide glacier front behind a bay scattered with floating ice, dark mountains on either side.

Aqua Lares is a 77-metre icebreaker superyacht that sails two very different seas: the remote islands of the Seychelles and Tanzania, and, from June 2026, the Norwegian Arctic around Svalbard. It carries just 30 guests in 15 cabins, looked after by 32 crew, and can be booked cabin by cabin or chartered whole. In Svalbard the days go to glaciers and sea ice and the search for polar bears and walruses, with two excursions a day led by expert guides, along with kayaking and walks ashore. The interiors combine warm wood panelling, Dedar fabrics and Gaya ceramics with pieces by Minotti and Poltrona Frau and old maps and prints. Three Owner's Suites of up to 66 square metres head the cabins, and every bathroom has a rain shower. On board there is a bar on the sun deck, a lounge with daybeds on the heli deck, a saloon, a cinema, jacuzzis inside and out, a sauna and a massage room. Chef Karime López, the first Mexican woman to win a MICHELIN star, shapes the menus around each region, which in the Arctic means Norwegian scallops, king crab and brown cheese.

15 cabins, for 30 guests

Insider tip For a family or group of friends, ask about chartering the whole yacht: it is one of very few superyachts that also sells single cabins, so you can choose either way.

Why I choose it A real expedition into the high Arctic in the comfort of a private yacht, with so few guests that every landing feels personal.
