andBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp

  • Virtuoso
  • Best time: May to Oct; mokoro May to Sep
A tented suite lit from within at dusk, its deck facing the floodplain.

andBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp lies in a private concession of 25,000 hectares (61,775 acres) on the edge of the Moremi Game Reserve, and it shows guests the Delta by water as well as by land. The nine tented suites stand on raised platforms in the shade of ebony trees, each with a hanging daybed and showers inside and out, and the main area has teak floors under an open-truss roof. Between May and September, depending on water levels, guests glide through the channels by mokoro or motorboat, and catch-and-release fishing, with tigerfish the prize, runs in season. On land there are game drives, walking safaris and helicopter flights, with the doors taken off for photographers who ask. Meals start at an interactive food and coffee bar with baristas, there are boma dinners, and the camp has a pool and a massage sala. A solar plant with Tesla batteries, installed in 2018, supplies 80 per cent of the camp's energy. Children of all ages are welcome, with the WILDchild programme, and Nxabega featured in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards 2025.

Insider tip Book a night drive: the concession gives a real chance of the elusive Pel's fishing owl, one of more than 400 bird species recorded in the area.

Why I choose it The Okavango Delta by water and by land, with mokoro trips from May to September, and welcoming to children of every age.
