andBeyond Chobe Under Canvas is a semi-permanent camp in the north of Chobe National Park, Botswana's first national park, near the Chobe River and home to some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. No flight is needed: guests are collected in Kasane and driven in on a game drive, watching for wildlife on the way, and transfers and park fees are included. There are only five canvas tents, each of 29 square metres. The camp has no electricity and keeps to a classic style, with hot bucket showers, flush toilets and a private butler. Days follow the rhythm of two game drives, and in the dry months from May to October animals gather along the river. More than 450 bird species have been recorded here, and the clear skies make for long evenings under the night sky. Meals are cooked over open flames and eaten by the fire. The camp closes for a few weeks each January, from January 11 to February 6 in 2027, and takes children aged 12 and over. With the two Under Canvas camps in the Delta, it completes a seven-night circuit through both of Botswana's great wildlife regions.
