The Merrion fills four Georgian townhouses on Upper Merrion Street, opposite Government Buildings, with a contemporary Garden Wing behind. The houses have been carefully restored, and the bedrooms and suites, decorated in Georgian colours, are set around two gardens in the 18th-century style, one of them designed by the landscape artist Jim Reynolds. The hotel holds one of the most important private art collections in Ireland, with Irish works of the 19th and 20th centuries hung through the drawing rooms and corridors. There are 142 rooms and suites, with marble bathrooms, and the Penthouse spreads over two floors with a large roof terrace. Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, a two-star MICHELIN restaurant, is one of the country's finest tables. The Garden Room is more relaxed, The Cellar Bar and No. 23, the cocktail bar, cover the evening. Afternoon tea is themed around the art collection. Below ground there is an 18-metre pool, a spa and a gym. St Stephen's Green and the city's museums are a short walk.
