The Majestic Malacca is a restored Straits Settlement mansion of the 1920s on the waterfront of the Malacca River, within the town's UNESCO World Heritage area, and it is one of YTL's classic hotels. The mansion keeps its original porcelain tile floors and teak fittings, and it has been sympathetically extended: the 54 rooms are in a newer building of 10 floors designed to echo the old architecture. They run from Deluxe King and Deluxe Twin rooms to one-bedroom suites, and two signature suites on the top floor, the Majestic and the Tranquerah, each measure about 70 square metres. The Mansion restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, with Kristang cooking, and looks over the river to Kampung Morten. The Lounge at The Mansion is the place for midday refreshments and afternoon tea, and The Bar at The Mansion sits near the entrance. Spa Village Malacca fills the first two floors of the new wing, with therapies drawn from Peranakan traditions, and there is an outdoor pool. Malacca International Airport is about 20 minutes' drive away, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport about one hour and 47 minutes.
