Cameron Highlands Resort stands on a hilltop beside the Cameron Highlands golf course, in the cool hill country of Pahang, almost a mile above sea level and among tea plantations and woodland trails. The resort tells its story through the days of British Malaya, when these hills were a retreat from the heat of the lowlands, and it keeps that manner, with stone fireplaces, a reading room and a daily high tea. Rooms have timber floors, beamed ceilings and four-poster beds; the Deluxe Rooms open through French doors onto private balconies, many over the golf course. Junior Suites add a lounge and a marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub, Two-Bedroom Suites suit families, and the adults-only Spa Suites are for guests aged 16 and over. The two signature suites, the Cameron Suite and the Jim Thompson Suite, are named for figures in the history of the highlands. Spa Village Cameron Highlands draws on the region's own traditions, and treatments use local tea and strawberries. There are several restaurants, including the only Japanese kitchen in the highlands, according to the MICHELIN inspector. There is no pool, as the air here stays cool.
