Shinta Mani Wild occupies a private stretch of jungle in Cambodia's Cardamom Mountains, on a wildlife corridor between Bokor and Kirirom national parks, and Bill Bensley created it as much to safeguard that land as to welcome guests to it. Its 15 luxury tents, 14 with one bedroom and one, the Capsule, with two, stand on raised platforms by the river and in the forest, in a design that plays on the romance of 1960s expedition travel. Guests can choose to arrive by zipline, 380 metres over the forest canopy before a second, 20-metre leg across the river and waterfall. The camp works with Wildlife Alliance, whose rangers patrol the corridor against poaching and illegal logging, and guests can ride out with them on motorbike patrols of two to six hours to see the work at first hand. Stays are fully inclusive, down to drinks, excursions and spa treatments. The kitchen cooks from an on-site garden and foraged ingredients. Every stay helps to fund conservation in the Cardamoms, which gives the comfort here a clear purpose. The camp holds Two MICHELIN Keys.
