Schloss Fuschl was built in 1461 on the shore of Lake Fuschl and belonged to the Archbishops of Salzburg, whose hunts there were famous. It became a hotel in 1958, appeared in the Sissi films of the 1950s and has since received guests from Audrey Hepburn to Richard Nixon. After nearly two years of restoration it reopened as Rosewood Schloss Fuschl in July 2024, modern and comfortable but with plenty of its history intact. The castle stands among mountains and forest less than 30 minutes from Salzburg. There are six places to eat and drink: the Schloss Restaurant for Austrian classics, the Seeterrasse above the water, the lakeside See Club, the Vinothek, the Sisi Teesalon for afternoon tea and the Schloss Bar, with a list of some 1,400 wines. The estate has its own fishery, and fish comes from the master fisherman Gerhard Langmeier, at work on the lake since 1987. The Asaya spa covers 1,500 square metres, with an indoor pool and an infinity pool above the lake, and a Sisi Museum occupies the courtyard. There are 98 rooms, among them 42 suites and six chalets.
