Pikaia Lodge, holder of Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026, a 50 Best Discovery property and named the World's Leading Adventure Hotel by the World Travel Awards, sits on the edge of an extinct volcanic crater on Santa Cruz Island in the Galápagos. The building is sharply modern against the surrounding landscape, and its 14 rooms and suites, including terrace balcony rooms and suites, have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the hills and the Pacific, bamboo floors and marble bathrooms with soaking tubs. The infinity pool shares the same view. Evolution Restaurant serves throughout the day, alongside two lounges, DNA Bar, the fire pit, a wine cellar and the Japanese-influenced SUMAQ Spa. The lodge combines stays on land with days at sea aboard its private yacht, M/Y Vision Pikaia, which takes guests to other islands. Experiences also include snorkelling, kayaking, mountain biking and hiking, while diving and sport fishing can be arranged on request. Pikaia is a Relais & Châteaux member and has received the group's Sustainability Trophy. Children aged eight and older are welcome, with younger children accommodated through private services.

Insider tip Mix the boat days with at least one day at the lodge itself, for a bike ride or a hike from the door.
Why I choose it Land-based comfort in the Galápagos with the lodge's own yacht for the islands, so guests who would rather not sleep on a boat still see the archipelago properly.
