Le Bora Bora

  • Two Keys
Clear turquoise water and white sand at Bora Bora, with hills in the distance.

Le Bora Bora stands on Motu Tevairoa, a private coral islet just off the main island of Bora Bora, facing Mount Otemanu across the lagoon. It is run by Pearl Resorts of Tahiti, is a member of Relais & Châteaux and holds Two MICHELIN Keys, the inspector calling it a classic Polynesian retreat with a strongly local character. The 108 rooms are thatched bungalows and villas, set over the water, along the beach or among the palms of the coconut grove, with carved wood, woven textiles and beds that face the lagoon. They run from overwater bungalows on stilts to garden villas, beach villas and royal beach villas, and the garden, beach and royal beach villas and the overwater suites at the end of the pontoons have their own pools. The beach is one of the finest on Bora Bora, with coral gardens in the lagoon beyond, and a solar-powered catamaran takes guests out on the water. Tāvai Spa is housed in a traditional Tahitian building above a water garden covered in lilies, and there is also a pool and a sauna. Otemanu is the restaurant, with a bar and room service. Children of all ages are welcome, and babysitting can be arranged.

Insider tip For a pool of your own over the water, ask for an overwater suite at the end of a pontoon; the villas on land have private pools too.
