COMO The Treasury occupies the State Buildings, a group of restored 19th-century government buildings on the corner of St Georges Terrace and Barrack Street in central Perth, facing Cathedral Square. Behind the arches and white columns of the old facades, the architect Kerry Hill designed 48 rooms and suites in pale earth tones, with king beds and Egyptian cotton. Some suites have fireplaces and views over the Swan River, and bathrooms have heated stone floors, walk-in showers and freestanding German-made tubs. Wildflower, on the roof, builds its menu around Western Australian produce, and Post, at street level, cooks French-inspired food; there is a cocktail bar, a rooftop terrace bar and the Cape Arid Rooms. The COMO Shambhala spa has a heated indoor pool, sauna and gym, and each room has a yoga mat and meditation videos. The airport is about 20 minutes and 17 kilometres away, and early check-in from 10:00 a.m. can be arranged when rooms allow, which helps after a long flight.
